Misconceptions About Longevity:
Many people believe:
- “Taking supplements or pills is enough.”
Reality: Longevity requires consistent effort in exercise, nutrition, sleep, and emotional health not shortcuts.
- “Genetics determine everything.”
Reality: Attia notes that genes load the gun, but lifestyle pulls the trigger.
- “Exercise is only for weight loss.”
Reality: Strength training and muscle building are crucial for long-term vitality.
Four things I learnt after reading this book
- Fixing your health later is much harder (and costlier). Prevention is far cheaper than treatment.
- Healthspan should be the new goal not just lifespan. It's not about how long you live, but how well you live.
- It’s okay to start small what matters is that you start. One habit today can protect your future decades.
- We are aging every second but you can slow that clock. With the right lifestyle choices, you can dramatically slow the rate of physical and cognitive decline.
